Scott Morrison’s Budget is an Affront to Young People Everywhere

Tuesday 2nd April: School strikers are outraged at yet another Federal Budget that doesn’t bother to tackle the climate crisis - the biggest threat to our generation.

Canberra school strikers 15yo Amelia Borst and 14yo Maanha Manzur attending the Budget announcement said:

“We are here because someone needs to take action for our future and it’s become really obvious that the adults in Parliament are not currently doing that.

“We watched the whole budget and were really disappointed. That’s an understatement.

“At the beginning of this budget, our politicians said that this country owes the younger generation a stable budget, but what you really owe the younger generation is some action on climate.

“Scott Morrison and all politicians owe us real action to protect our future, because we can’t vote. Yet more money is being spent on ring roads than on our future. If we don’t do something now, we are going to regret it for years to come.

“Real climate leadership means that we must #StopAdani. We must see the Adani coal mine gone. We also need 100% renewables by 2030 and we need no new coal or gas production,”

“Climate change is here and it is hurting us now: the hottest summer on record, crippling drought, severe storms, half of the Reef dead,"

“Our movement and our generation is going all out to make sure that all politicians prioritise urgent climate action this election and beyond.” said Borst and Manzur.
